     BalconiesAs land is always at a premium and as it becomes increasingly valuable, an excellent solution for the ever-growing problem of outside space is the addition of a balcony to any property. Balconies of all types are enjoying a renaissance, both on new builds and as additions to existing properties. Balconies can allow a seamless blend of your external and internal living spaces, opening up rooms and bringing the outside in. At Elysion we work with developers, contractors and homeowners to provide the ideal balcony system, whether you are renovating an existing balcony or building a new one. There are three main types of balcony – Juliet balconies – usually in front of a pair of inward opening doors, fully cantilevered balconies without any posts, and lastly balcony frames supported by two or more posts or brackets. The biggest problem with any balcony is to how best to support the weight and if your heart is set on a fully cantilevered balcony it is essential that it is incorporated into your structural design at a very early stage in the build. We can advise on the most appropriate materials and finishes to use in your build and those that will be most suitable for your own individual needs. As with all our work, we will develop the design with your input and provide you with a fully rendered 2D or 3D CAD drawing to show you how your finished balcony will look when built, and to ensure you are totally satisfied that we have interpreted your requirements exactly. We can also provide full calculations in support of our designs for Building Control submission and approval. The balcony floor is usually the most visual element and we will willingly explain and advise you on all the options available – from steel floor plate, through to hardwood and composite decking, steel and fibreglass grating or perhaps glass flooring for when it is essential that light is diffused to the underside of the balcony. Elysion's highly skilled craftsmen will manufacture all the bespoke elements of your balcony, and whether you decide on a frameless glass balustrade with laminated glass flooring and stainless steel structure, or a galvanized steel structure with composite decking and a powder coated steel balustrade, each individual element will be unique to your own project. Our bespoke balcony balustrades and handrails are available in a wide range of finishes and we will happily accommodate any distinct style or designs if required.
